DowntownABQ MainStreet + Arts & Cultural District on Instagram: "🏘🎨 Last year, the Downtown Arts & Cultural District teamed up with the City's Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency (MRA) to explore an affordable housing project with an art-focused lens through consultant and developer @artspaceusa. Artspace is based in Minnesota and has successfully launched 60+ other spaces nationwide since the early 1990s. Downtown ACD is excited to work on the second phase of the study with Artspace and the MRA as we work to explore possible spaces and execution of the project. Artspace development has included working to restore historic buildings as well as new construction. Next week, Artspace will return to Albuquerque (some followers will remember when they visited February 2023) to further investigate the project's feasibility, engage with key stakeholders, and outline the next steps. On Thursday, September 5th, Downtown ACD, MRA, and Harwood Art Center will host a public conversation on artist housing and workspaces.
