julianne aguilar: some websites

Alpaca Albuquerque on Instagram: "Join us next Friday at Alpaca from 6-9 pm for the opening of Julianne Aguilar’s exhibition: some websites some websites is an exhibition of some websites made by Julianne Aguilar. Julianne has been making websites since she was in elementary school, and her aesthetic hasn’t matured a day since. She is an internet optimist, and is doing her part to make the internet weird and beautiful. It’s a losing battle. Nevertheless, there’s nothing she loves more than sitting down at her beloved computer, going into a fugue state, and emerging a day or two later with a new website. To see even more websites, go to her big all-encompassing website at http://juliannes.website Julianne Aguilar is an artist and writer. Her art practice consists of turning weed smoke into silly little websites. She’s inspired by HTML1, websites she loved as a kid but can’t remember the URL of, jpeg artifacts, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, clear plastic electronics, the 1999 Nine Inch Nails masterpiece The Fragile, 101.3 The Hustle, the Gateway Computers cow box, the empty world of Vana’Diel, the groundbreaking 1996 first-person shooter Quake, the view from the top of Cerro Pedernal, the Buffalo Bills’ four consecutive Super Bowl losses, Cowboy Bebop episode 11 “Toys In The Attic,” Usagi Tsukino’s tears, and her cat Toki. She lives in Albuquerque."
