Rituals for Now Closing
Rituals for Now Closing

Sam Snell on Instagram: "Stoked for this show on rituals. Rituals can be a powerful tool for reorienting us at this point in history, collectively and individually. Capitalism as a system is no longer serving us, so finding daily rituals to return to ourselves and community, to not feel powerless, can be a starting point for the way out. In the words of Janine Benyus, a science writer, “…we don’t have to live with this economic system we have, we actually can play different chords on our piano—our mental, our cultural piano.” Looking forward to seeing this group of artists’ discourse. My body-centered piece “Love Spell, or God in the Pre-existence” will be featured. For the non-art-history nerds, this was drawn from Édouard Manet’s reclining nude, “Olympia” (1863). Grateful to the collective at Fourteenfifteen for including this uncensored and radically queer piece and displaying it to the community. And during pride month too 🏳️‍🌈❤️ This piece was sort of the spotlight from my solo show, “Magical Thinking.” RITUALS FOR NOW Opening reception will be this Friday!!
